Seeking International Cooperation, Strengthening International Exchanges, and Enhancing the High-Quality Innovative Development of the Association's Medical Education - Marking the Successful Opening of the 83rd World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
To further implement the spirit of the 2025 Expanded Meeting of the Association's Presidents in Xiong'an, and in accordance with the third task under Article 9 of the annual work plan – which states "resolutely implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and expand the Association's international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation" – the specific task is to properly receive and hold discussions with the leaders of the World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (FIP) during their visit from Guangzhou to Beijing, where they will call on the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, the China Medicine Education Association, and the Chinese Pharmacists Association. The purpose is to establish international cooperative relationships, seek opportunities for the Association to participate in top-tier global pharmaceutical conferences in the future, and promote the high-quality development of the Association's medical education cause.
On August 31, Academician Huang Zhengming—Honorary President of the China Medicine Education Association, Vice President of the International Academy of Ecological Life and Safety Sciences (registered with the United Nations Department of Public Information), and Chairman (Dean) of its China Branch—received an invitation from Paul Sinclair AM, President of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), to travel to Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark in Northern Europe, to attend the "83rd World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences" held from August 31 to September 3.

During the conference, President of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) will invite Academician Huang Zhengming, Honorary President of the Chinese Society of Medical Education, and Professor Shi Luwen, President of the Chinese Pharmacists Association, to meet and discuss matters related to cooperation. This is an excellent opportunity to pursue international cooperation, strengthen international exchanges, and enhance the high-quality development of undertakings such as medical education, pharmaceutical practice, and scientific research innovation of the Association and the International Academy of Ecology and Life Safety (referred to as the International Academy of Ecology for short).
The core task of this participation in the conference is that Paul Sinclair AM, President of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), invited the attendees to a meeting to discuss international cooperation matters. Under the guidance of Chen Zhengyu, FIP Chief Representative in China, Academician Huang Zhengming, Honorary President of the Chinese Society of Medical Education, and Professor Shi Luwen, President of the Chinese Pharmacists Association, met and held talks with Paul Sinclair AM, President of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) (see photo).
Academician Huang Zhengming and other attendees held talks on relevant matters with President Paul Sinclair AM (first from the right on the opposite side) and his delegation.
During the talks, Chief Representative Chen Zhengyu served as the English interpreter. Yang Jingyan, Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Committee on Rational Clinical Drug Use of the Chinese Society of Medical Education, and Chen Gang, Deputy Director of the same committee, also attended the meeting.
In the discussion, Academician Huang Zhengming put forward three proposals to President Paul Sinclair AM of FIP: First, the Chinese Society of Medical Education applies to join FIP as a member, hoping to fulfill its due obligations for FIP’s international pharmaceutical initiatives. Second, the Society wishes to undertake the exchange and training of relevant international pharmaceutical talents. Third, it hopes to obtain the right to broadcast each session of the International Pharmaceutical Congress in China, aiming to provide more Chinese pharmaceutical professionals with opportunities to participate in learning and knowledge sharing.
In response, President Paul Sinclair AM and Vice President Robmoss of FIP reached a basic consensus on these three proposals. They generally agreed to the Chinese Society of Medical Education joining FIP as a member unit, which will be processed in accordance with official procedures. For the second and third proposals mentioned above, they expressed principled approval, and the implementation will be advanced step by step following the required procedures.
It can be seen that the first meeting and discussion between the two sides went smoothly and harmoniously, exceeding expectations. For the Chinese Society of Medical Education, joining FIP (once the process is completed) will be a rare opportunity to advance the high-quality development of its pharmaceutical education undertakings. Moreover, the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association has already become a member of FIP, and the Chinese Pharmacists Association is currently going through the membership application procedures.
The in-depth discussion further enhanced mutual understanding between the two parties. After the talk, President Paul Sinclair AM personally presented ties printed with the "FIP" logo to Academician Huang Zhengming and President Shi Luwen respectively, and a group photo was taken to commemorate the occasion (see photo).

The "World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences" is the only global professional conference in the pharmaceutical field founded under the auspices of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). To date, it has been successfully held for 83 sessions and enjoys worldwide reputation.
As for the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), it has a history of 113 years (1912-2025), and can even be described as a "century-old institution" in the field. It was registered in 1912, with its registration place/headquarters located in The Hague, Netherlands. This shows that The Hague is not only FIP’s place of registration, but also its founding location.
As the largest international pharmaceutical organization, FIP brings together 137 institutional member organizations from over 80 countries. It is the most authoritative international organization in the global field of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, composed of pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists and related associations around the world. Its mission is to meet the world’s medication needs, improve drug use and promote health by advancing pharmaceutical practice and sciences.
The 83rd World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the current session, grandly opened at 3:00 p.m. on August 31 at the Copenhagen International Conference Centre in the capital of Denmark. The conference centre, which can accommodate 5,000 people, was fully occupied (see picture). Pharmaceutical professionals from all over the world gathered here to witness the charm and elegance of the World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, leaving people in a pleasant mood.

World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, held annually like this, provides a learning and exchange platform for thousands of pharmaceutical researchers and professionals from all over the world to make common progress, inspire collaboration. The theme of this year’s congress is "Pharmacy Forward: Performance, Collaboration, and Health Transformation", which aims to explore the evolving role of the pharmaceutical profession in modern healthcare scenarios.
Lasting for 4 days, the congress consists of one main venue and 50 parallel sessions, covering all aspects of the pharmaceutical field. Scholars can choose parallel sessions that match their respective specialties for learning, communication and achievement sharing.
As a long-serving professional engaged in medical education and new drug pharmacology research, Academician Huang Zhengming – Honorary President of the Chinese Society of Medical Education, Vice President of the International Academy of Ecology and Life Safety, and Dean of its China Branch – has been committed to China’s medical education, pharmaceutical practice services, and new drug R&D.
ascinated by the appeal of the World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Academician Huang has had a special affection for it. From 2007 to 2017, he attended every session of the congress without interruption over the decade, gaining abundant new knowledge, new perspectives, and new technologies, and benefiting greatly from the experience. This invited participation also brought him fruitful gains.
Guided by the congress theme "Pharmacy Forward: Performance, Collaboration, and Health Transformation", the event not only featured rich content but also contained a vast amount of information. The 50 parallel sessions alone are sufficient to serve as a large "knowledge market" with massive resources in the pharmaceutical field, encompassing the new connotations of pharmaceutical information, intelligence, and high technology in the new era.

In addition to pharmaceutical practice, the World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (FIP Congress) also features research on pharmaceutical scientific research and innovation. During the conversation with Chairman Paul Sinclair AM, he showed great interest in the cooperation with the China Branch of the International Academy of Ecology and Life Sciences, but it was agreed that a more in-depth discussion would be held at an appropriate time, focusing mainly on matters related to professional alignment.
According to incomplete statistics, more than 100 Chinese pharmaceutical practitioners attended this congress. They included experts and scholars from the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, the Chinese Pharmacists Association, the Chinese Medical Education Association, as well as other relevant social organizations and provincial-level related institutions.
Our association mainly organized participants through the Special Committee on Rational Clinical Drug Use. This is because after the Xiong'an Conference, the leadership delegation of FIP, represented by Vice President Robmoss, visited Beijing and was received by the Special Committee on Rational Clinical Drug Use, which laid a solid foundation for mutual understanding between the two sides.
The proactive, bold and responsible work attitude and courage demonstrated by the Special Committee on Rational Clinical Drug Use, as exemplified in this case, are worthy of learning and promotion.
